Is June spring or summer? In Portland, it’s always hard to tell! As I am writing this a few days before June begins, the rain is falling softly outside and the chilly breeze is wafting in; and we have 90 degree F / 32 C weather in the three-day forecast. We can expect more of the same right through the month. While we look forward every year to the heady luxury of 15 hours and 41 minutes of sunlight and twilights extending before and after so that we feel the daylight never ends; we also have the local saying, “summer starts July 5.”
Whatever it is, it is the best time of all to hike, walk, eat, and ride a bike. From fragrant wildflowers to typically warmer days to festivals galore, this is such a fun time to visit. During June our most popular option is our Food Carts of Portland’s Eastside bike tour. Check out the beautiful weather for a Streetcar Around Portland tour or a tour to Multnomah Falls and the Columbia Gorge. Try a lush and floral visit Forest Park and the witches’ castle — we might see some new ripe berries. We’re seeing lots of people join us for the easiest ways to get introduced to the city with our Walk Around or Bike Around Portland if the weather works for you.
June is our favorite month to visit, with something for everyone. We usually see 1-2 inches of rain over the course of the month, and about 20% of the days have some rain. Those boost our waterfalls to roaring; they truly have a life of their own! And our mosses are absolutely vibrant and glowing. Generally we have no temperatures below 50F/10C forecast and some ideal weather with 80F/26C highs and mostly sunny alternating with sprinkles — rainbow weather! But please remember, the mornings can be very cool; and the whole day might end up very cool! Don’t forget your layers! All of our tours should be operating without any major weather-related obstacles, but we will reach out to you if you have booked and weather conditions change. We never cancel for rain.

We will contact you to chat about the conditions prior to your experience if anything is out of the ordinary. We recommend good boots or shoes with traction and plenty of layers that can handle occasional rain and cool breezes, and to keep an eye on the low temperature. More about what to wear here!
