Saturday and Sunday morning tour: Brunch!
Sample Portland’s legendary food cart scene with trendsetting tastes and unique-to-Portland experiences. Walk to visit the city’s most famous food carts (a Portland invention!) and taste specialties from several world cultures. In this easy, slow-paced walk we will try foods from food carts and shops, including sweet and savory, and an option for kombucha, coffee, tea, or boba.
Our small group Food Carts of Portland’s Eastside walking tour takes you to the side of the river where the hotbed of food, coffee and tea has always been, across from downtown Portland in a neighborhood packed with historic and trendsetting food options in a backdrop of hundreds of murals and street art, both authorized and unauthorized.
Portland was the inventor of food cart “pods,” permanent food locations, and boasts over 700 different food carts throughout the city. This is the neighborhood where you can find the past, present and future of food carts and try great choices that our guides love that represent a world of cuisine. We’ll also visit some of the neighborhood’s most highly-rated bakeries, coffee or chocolate roasteries, and other surprises.
The tour in total is 2-3 miles (4-5 km) of walking, with plenty of food sampling at some of our favorite options. Menu items will usually include Portland’s vegetable-forward take on Belgian waffles, a tamale from an oasis, a TikTok-worthy Japanese treat, and a locally-crafted beverage worth waiting around for. 2.5 to 3 hours, $90.
