Portland’s chocolate scene is overwhelming; let us navigate you through its origins, passionate makers, and diversity with this walking tour that delves into what some call “decadence” but we call “delight.” Chocolate is a virtue! And we couldn’t cover chocolate without the roasted seed of our other favorite tropical berry: coffee! Portland is known as the heart of the craft coffee roasting world, with so many small roasters, coffee lovers that we are, we struggle to taste them all.
Portland’s Best Chocolate and coffee walking tours leave from Director Park, and we keep our groups to 10 or fewer people for intimate, personal experiences.
Our tour hits both the well-known highlights and some of the secrets of the chocolate scene, with a few surprises we don’t want to give away. Among the stops, we’ll pass by Courier Coffee (or another favorite coffee shop, either one famous locally and internationally for their careful touch with microlot coffee roasting and attention to the perfect cappuccino); Roste (one of the newest chocolate makers in the city, with an array of carefully roasted beans from different chocolate-growing origins); and Azar Indulgences (where we’ll taste chocolate and other sweet treats of owner Christine Azar’s choosing). You’ll taste chocolate in myriad forms and styles; think of it as a chocolate education. Trust that you will not leave the tour wanting!
The tour in total is about 2.0 miles (3.5km), mostly flat walking, with several tastings of chocolate — just the right amount. We keep groups very small, so you’ll have an intimate experience with your enthusiastic guides. Includes multiple chocolate and coffee tastings. 2 p.m. Wed-Sun, 2.5 hours, $59.
