See the waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge in the most intimate and carefree manner possible: by bike and hike. We transport our guests and bikes in comfortable vans, and our guides ride with our very small groups. You’ll get personal attention and the safest experience we can provide.
After meeting at our shop, we’ll fit you for bikes and take about a 30 minute drive into the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland. Here we’ll start a stunning overlook of the gorge, getting on our bikes and riding along the Historic Columbia River Highway to other viewpoints and points of interest. About three miles (5 km) of biking along gentle, curving, scenic downhills leads us to our favorite waterfall hikes (1.5-3 miles, 3-5 km in total). After this, we’ll ride another two miles (3 km) to another beautiful viewpoint of the Columbia Gorge. If conditions permit, this tour also visits Multnomah Falls — the most visited tourist attraction in Oregon.
Like no other active tour of the gorge, we tell the stories that are just beginning to awaken from this place. Beyond the 180 years of pioneers and loggers, before the century-old highway, this was the land of people with a rich mythology. We tell the stories that have been told to us by the Indigenous people as best we can. But what’s most important, we remember the long long history this place holds.
Our tour also provides the most active hiking and visits waterfalls you will not see on other tours, and we keep our tours to eight riders, for maximum safety and comfort. This tour includes riding on a historic highway; so we limit to ages 14 and up. About 4.5 hours, 5-6 miles biking and 1.5 – 3 miles hiking, $95.
Our bikes really like to get out of the city too 🙂 The base of the beautiful Bridal Veil Falls is a hidden oasis in the heat of summer In the summer late afternoons, we have the trails to ourselves to cavort of meditate The upper Latourell Falls is a local secret full of stories The view from the historic highway is always dramatic Nothing else makes you feel so much like you’re on top of the world We call the Vista House the “fancy bathroom.” Hiking in the early summer is an immersion in lushness.
