6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. departures, 1.5 hours, $48
Starts at Ovation Coffee, 3730 S Bond Ave

Wake up early and get the beautiful sunrise colors! It’s a view-filled start to your day with a ride on the Portland Aerial Tram. (Occasionally, we offer 9 a.m. departures as well!)
We’ll meet you on the edge of downtown Portland at Starts at Ovation Coffee, 3730 S Bond Ave, where you will have a chance to pick up coffee (or tea). At OHSU, we’ll walk with you to the Aerial Tram, the country’s first aerial tram built primarily for its commuters. We’ll be joining doctors, nurses and other medical staff headed to work!
We will head over to OHSU, where we will walk with you to the Aerial Tram. We’ll ride up this feat of Swiss engineering up to the top as the early sun reveals the city’s glowing colors. Once there, depending on sunrise timing and weather, we’ll watch the sun crest the horizon, or check out the city views in the early morning light.
After we ride back to the bottom, we’ll tell you the story of the bridge and its quixotic lights, and orient you to the city whose east-west divider lies before us.
The Aerial Tram was built in 2006 to connect the main campus of Oregon Health Sciences University with the new neighborhood of the South Waterfront. We will be joining students and medical staff on their daily tram ride!
We’ll serve you some of Portland’s best doughnuts with a view of the first morning light, then we’ll ride this feat of Swiss engineering as the early sun reveals the city’s glowing colors. We’ll tell you the story of the city’s only transit-, bike- and pedestrian-only bridge and its quixotic lights, and orient you to the city whose east-west divider lies before us.
Once we’re done, we’ll orient you to the city so you know where to head next — and let us know if you need a recommendation for a way to spend your day!
Note that, while the sun comes up every morning, the weather doesn’t always accommodate the most colorful views. Whatever we can see on the horizon, we’ll have great doughnuts, great stories, and a sweet ride on an unusual conveyance!
Please email if you have a request for a day we don’t offer the tour. We cannot operate on federal holidays, Sundays, or early in the morning Saturdays because of tram operating hours. Also, if you are arriving at the start point via the Orange Line MAX train, please call or text us at 503-998-3170 and we can meet you at the MAX stop.
