You’ve heard what they say about April showers, but in Portland, every month in the spring comes with both showers AND flowers, and both a-plenty. We are writing this post in the middle of April, and we’ve experienced both in glorious quantity; some of the most spectacular weather we’ve ever seen mixed with the weirdest. In Portland, we most definitely keep it weird.
What you should know if you’re looking at the weather forecast is that (1) very few days of rainy weather are constant. Most days of rain include some sprinkles, some beautiful sun breaks, and occasionally a brief hail storm! (2) Portlanders do everything in the rain, from hiking to biking to having coffee or beer at an outside table. And that leads us to (3) we never cancel tours for rain.
We suggest, if you see rain in the forecast, you see it as we do: a chance, a possibility, and a source for all things good, from brilliantly gorgeous chartreuse and spring green colors in the big leaf maples to the outrageous pale reds of the Japanese maples to the amazingly fragrant fringe cup.
