Co-owner, shop chief and business development manager
Madi loves exploring cities by bike, so much so that she wrote the book on it —Urban Cycling: How to Get to Work, Save Money, and Use Your Bike for City Living [Mountaineers Books, 2015]. Portland, in particular, is an exceptionally magical place to discover on two wheels and Madi loves showing tour guests its many hidden gems and picturesque views not available through a car or bus window.
Madi lives car-free with her two sons, who also spend more time on two wheels than on foot. She writes a weekly family biking column for local bike blog BikePortland.org and in her spare time she’s the co-director of Kidical Mass PDX, a group bike ride for kids of all ages and their families that celebrates the fact that “Kids are Traffic Too” and aims for family fun on vehicles that don’t hurt the future.
