We have never taken an unhappy person home from the end of a tour spent hiking and biking in the Columbia River Gorge.
We are often asked to list our “favorite tour.” This question is as mercurial as a tour guide but the vast majority of these questions are answered with this exact tour. It’s a way to see the waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge in the most intimate and carefree manner possible: by bike and hike.
We transport our guests and bikes in Mercedes Sprinters, and our guides ride with our very small groups. You’ll get personal attention and the safest experience we can provide.
After meeting at our shop, we’ll fit you for bikes and take about a 30 minute drive into the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland. Here we’ll start a stunning overlook of the gorge, getting on our bikes and riding along the Historic Columbia River Highway to other viewpoints and points of interest. About four miles (6.5 km) of biking along gentle, curving, scenic downhills leads us to our favorite waterfall loop hike (2.2 miles, 3.5 km). After this, we’ll ride another two miles (3 km) to another beautiful viewpoint of the Columbia Gorge.
If time and interest permits, this tour also visits Multnomah Falls — the most visited tourist attraction in Oregon.
Our tour also provides the most active hiking and visits waterfalls you will not see on other tours, and we keep our tours to eight riders, for maximum safety and comfort. About 5 hours, 6 miles biking and 2.5 miles hiking, $75.
Is it safe to assume that if one needed a bike the rental would be separate? Thank you.
Christine, the bikes for the tour are included in the price of the tour!
My husband and I do not bike very often, but we are in pretty good shape for being 50 years old. Would this tour be doable for us physically (and enjoyable)?
Hi Raquel! The tour is not physically difficult; if you are reasonably comfortable on a bike, it’s quite doable! We very frequently have tour guests who are in moderate physical shape who find it quite easy. The more strenuous part of the tour is the hiking, but it’s at a very slow pace, as long as you can manage a little elevation gain it’s no problem at all (and even those who live mostly sedentary lives report having enjoyed the tour despite its challenges).
